Job Brief
The Elevator Repair and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of electric and hydraulic freight or passenger elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters. This role requires proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving mechanical and electrical issues while adhering to safety standards and regulations. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience in elevator systems, a strong technical background, and effective problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and maintain various types of elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure the safe and efficient operation of elevator systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with building management to schedule maintenance and service calls.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and service history.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes.
- Respond to emergency repair calls in a timely manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients regarding maintenance updates and repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in elevator maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as an Elevator Repair and Maintenance Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of elevator systems, electrical circuits, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes related to elevator operation.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
