Job Brief
The Elevator Adjuster is responsible for the assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of electric and hydraulic freight and passenger elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters. This role requires a skilled technician with a strong background in elevator systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and install new elevator systems, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections on existing elevator systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in elevators and escalators.
- Repair and replace defective components, including motors, gears, and control systems.
- Maintain accurate records of service and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to improve elevator performance and safety.
- Stay updated on industry trends, safety regulations, and advancements in elevator technology.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an elevator technician apprenticeship preferred.
- Proven experience in elevator installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electric elevator systems, including troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with safety codes and regulations related to elevator operations.
- Technical certifications, such as National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) or equivalent, are a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces as needed.
