Job Brief
As an Eating Disorder Psychologist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with eating disorders and related mental health issues. Utilizing your expertise in psychological evaluation, counseling, and behavior modification, you will work closely with patients to help them understand their emotional challenges and develop effective coping strategies. This role requires a Master’s or Doctoral degree in psychology, relevant certifications, and strong interpersonal skills to foster a supportive therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments through interviews, observations, and standardized tests to diagnose eating disorders.
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and circumstances.
- Provide individual and group counseling services aimed at improving emotional well-being and facilitating personal growth.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, including nutritional counseling and medical treatment.
- Educate patients and their families about eating disorders to promote understanding and support recovery efforts.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement behavior modification programs to assist patients in changing unhealthy eating patterns.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and regulations in all patient interactions.
Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Valid state licensure as a psychologist or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and treating eating disorders and related mental health conditions.
- Strong understanding of psychological theories and therapeutic techniques relevant to eating disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.
