Job Brief
As a Dolphin Trainer, you will be responsible for training and conditioning dolphins to perform various tasks and behaviors, ensuring their well-being and safety in a marine environment. Responsibilities
- Train dolphins to respond to verbal commands and physical cues for performance and obedience.
- Develop and implement training programs according to industry standards for shows, competitions, and educational interactions.
- Accustom dolphins to human contact and prepare them for audience interactions.
- Monitor the health and well-being of trained dolphins, ensuring they receive proper care and attention.
- Assist in the development of enrichment activities that promote mental and physical stimulation.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure optimal health and training outcomes.
- Maintain accurate training records and progress reports for each dolphin.
- Participate in public presentations and educational programs to raise awareness about marine life conservation.
Requirements
- Proven experience training marine animals, preferably dolphins, in a professional setting.
- Strong understanding of marine biology and animal behavior principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and the public.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Certification in animal training, marine mammal care, or a related field is preferred.
- Physical capability to perform duties, including handling equipment and working in aquatic environments.
- Strong observational skills to assess animal health and behavior.
