Job Brief

The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) plays a critical role in the healthcare setting by administering anesthesia and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing surgical and medical procedures. This advanced practice role requires a registered nurse with specialized graduate education in anesthesia. DNAPs are responsible for monitoring patients’ vital signs throughout the surgical process and overseeing their recovery from anesthesia, collaborating closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia agents and monitor patients’ vital signs during surgical procedures.
  • Assess patient health histories and evaluate the suitability for anesthesia.
  • Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans in collaboration with surgical teams.
  • Provide postoperative care, including monitoring recovery and managing complications.
  • Educate patients and families about anesthesia procedures and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation as per regulatory standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in anesthesia practices and technologies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nurse Anesthesia from an accredited program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and Nurse Anesthesia Certification (CRNA).
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of clinical experience in anesthesia practice.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology and anesthetic techniques.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
