Job Brief
The Diesel Pile Hammer Operator is responsible for operating pile driving equipment mounted on skids, barges, crawler treads, or locomotive cranes to effectively drive pilings for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, safety regulations, and construction site protocols. Successful candidates will possess hands-on experience with diesel pile hammers and demonstrate proficiency in interpreting blueprints and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate diesel pile hammers to drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations.
- Perform pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Monitor and adjust machinery during operations to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations while on construction sites.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment maintenance.
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of pile driving equipment.
- Train and mentor junior operators and crew members as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy machinery operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Pile Hammer Operator or similar role in construction.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and relevant certifications.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks associated with pile driving.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with various types of pile driving equipment and machinery.
