Job Brief
The Cotton Picker is responsible for manually planting, cultivating, and harvesting cotton crops. This role requires physical stamina and proficiency in using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, and shears. Responsibilities
- Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest cotton crops using appropriate hand tools.
- Till soil, apply fertilizers, and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal crop growth.
- Transplant, weed, thin, and prune cotton plants to enhance productivity.
- Apply pesticides and perform pest control measures in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Clean, grade, sort, pack, and load harvested cotton for distribution.
- Construct trellises, repair fences, and maintain farm buildings as needed.
- Participate in seasonal agricultural activities and adhere to safety protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in agriculture is a plus.
- Ability to operate hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks outdoors.
- Knowledge of crop management practices and pest control methods.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in agriculture.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during peak harvest seasons.
