Responsibilities
- Review and proofread transcripts and written content for grammatical, typographical, and compositional errors.
- Ensure adherence to style guides and consistency in formatting across all documents.
- Mark corrections and provide clear feedback to writers and editors.
- Collaborate with content creators to clarify ambiguities and improve overall content quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices in proofreading and editing.
- Prepare and finalize documents for publication or distribution, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Proofread braille documents, if applicable, ensuring accessibility and correctness.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a proofreader or copy reader, preferably in a publishing, media, or corporate environment.
- Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with style guides such as AP, Chicago, or MLA is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using editing software and tools to enhance proofreading efficiency.
- A degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is a plus.
