Job Brief
As a Coastal Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design, analysis, and implementation of coastal infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing coastal erosion, developing sustainable solutions, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in coastal engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in relevant software tools. A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with a focus on coastal or marine environments, is essential for this position.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of coastal sites to evaluate erosion, sediment transport, and other environmental factors.
- Design and develop coastal protection structures such as seawalls, jetties, and breakwaters.
- Utilize advanced software tools for modeling coastal processes and predicting impacts of engineering projects.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure integration of engineering solutions and environmental sustainability.
- Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation for project proposals and regulatory compliance.
- Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies and community groups, to discuss project plans and gather feedback.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of coastal projects post-implementation and recommend modifications as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in coastal engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in coastal engineering projects, including design and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of coastal engineering software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
