Job Brief

The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) plays a pivotal role in leading and implementing sustainability initiatives across an organization. This executive-level position focuses on developing and executing strategies that promote environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability. The CSO collaborates with senior management and stakeholders to ensure compliance with sustainability regulations and drive innovative practices that enhance the organization’s overall sustainability performance. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization’s sustainability strategy in alignment with business goals.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to promote sustainable practices and initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on sustainability metrics, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in sustainability leadership or related roles, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • Excellent strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights related to sustainability efforts.
  • Certifications in sustainability (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001) are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting standards and frameworks, such as GRI or CDP.
