Job Brief
As a Cast Iron Drain Pipe Layer, you will be responsible for laying pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This role requires a solid understanding of trench grading, pipe positioning, and joint sealing. Ideal candidates will have experience in underground utility installation and possess strong technical skills essential for ensuring the effective and safe laying of cast iron piping systems.
Responsibilities
- Excavate and grade trenches or culverts to prepare for pipe installation.
- Accurately position cast iron pipes in trenches and ensure proper alignment.
- Seal joints between pipes to prevent leaks and ensure structural integrity.
- Perform inspections and quality control checks on installed pipelines.
- Collaborate with team members and project managers to ensure timely project completion.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance during installation tasks.
- Document work progress and report any issues to supervisors promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in plumbing or construction preferred.
- Proven experience in pipe laying, specifically with cast iron materials.
- Strong knowledge of trenching and excavation techniques.
- Familiarity with safety practices and regulations in construction environments.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and tools used in pipe installation.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
