Job Brief
The Buzzsaw Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending wood sawing machines, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in woodworking or manufacturing environments and possess the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate buzz saws and CNC machinery for optimal performance.
- Operate wood sawing equipment to cut materials according to specifications.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure product quality.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and production orders.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Train and mentor junior operators or apprentices as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in woodworking or machinery operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Buzzsaw Operator or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of woodworking processes and equipment.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints and production specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards in the workplace.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and operate machinery effectively.
