Job Brief

As a Building Inspector, you will utilize your engineering skills to evaluate the structural soundness of buildings and ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to perform both general inspections and specialized assessments in areas such as electrical systems, plumbing, and safety standards. Candidates should possess a strong background in construction, engineering, or a related field, along with exceptional analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial structures to assess compliance with local, state, and federal building codes.
  • Evaluate the integrity of building components, including foundations, roofs, electrical systems, and plumbing installations.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports that document findings, deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and property owners to address compliance issues and ensure timely resolutions.
  • Stay updated on current building codes, regulations, and industry best practices to maintain inspection accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and education to stakeholders regarding building safety standards and inspection processes.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints related to building safety and code violations in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Building Inspector or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Valid certification as a Building Inspector (e.g., ICC certification) is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in using inspection software and tools for reporting and documentation.
