Job Brief
As a Boilermaker Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. This position requires a skilled professional with hands-on experience in aligning structures and plate sections for boiler frame assembly, while adhering to blueprint specifications. Proficient use of hand and power tools, along with strong problem-solving skills, is essential to ensure the optimal performance and safety of boiler systems.
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble stationary steam boilers and associated boiler house auxiliaries.
- Align structures and plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats according to blueprints.
- Utilize hand and power tools, including plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, and turnbuckles for assembly tasks.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting assembled vessels to ensure operational efficiency.
- Direct the cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces to maintain optimal performance.
- Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, and water columns.
- Perform maintenance and adjustments on auxiliary machinery to ensure reliability.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance safety protocols and operational procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in boilermaking or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Boilermaker Mechanic or similar role within the industry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with various hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to boiler operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in relevant safety and technical training programs is a plus.
