Job Brief

As a Boiler Mechanic, you will be responsible for constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. This role requires a solid understanding of boiler systems, blueprint reading, and the ability to operate hand and power tools effectively. The ideal candidate will possess experience in the boiler industry, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and assemble stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries according to blueprints.
  • Maintain and repair boiler systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, and turnbuckles for precise assembly and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in testing assembled vessels to ensure functionality and safety standards are met.
  • Direct the cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces to maintain efficient operation and prolong lifespan.
  • Inspect and repair boiler fittings, including safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, and water columns.
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve boiler performance issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Boiler Mechanic or similar role in the boiler and pressure vessel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools relevant to mechanical assembly and repair.
  • Valid relevant certifications (e.g., Boiler Operator License) are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle demanding tasks in various environments.
