Job Brief
As a Boiler Fitter, you will be responsible for constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and their auxiliary systems. This role requires a skilled technician with experience in interpreting blueprints and utilizing various hand and power tools to ensure the safe and efficient operation of boiler systems. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries according to specifications.
- Align structures or plate sections to ensure the proper assembly of boiler frame tanks or vats, adhering to blueprints.
- Utilize hand and power tools, including plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, and turnbuckles, to perform assembly tasks.
- Assist in testing assembled vessels to verify functionality and safety compliance.
- Direct the cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces to maintain operational efficiency.
- Inspect and repair boiler fittings such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, and water columns.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to enhance boiler performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on boiler systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Boiler Fitter or in a similar mechanical role.
- Strong understanding of boiler systems, components, and maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with hand and power tools commonly used in boiler assembly and repair.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to boiler operation.
- Relevant certifications in boiler maintenance or HVAC systems are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments and perform tasks independently or as part of a team.
