Job Brief

The Biomedical Electronics Technician is responsible for the testing, adjustment, and repair of biomedical and electromedical equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of electronic circuitry, diagnostic equipment, and medical technology. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with various biomedical devices, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a technical team. A background in electronics engineering or a related field is essential, along with relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Test, calibrate, and repair biomedical equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic malfunctions in medical devices using advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, service schedules, and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess equipment needs and provide technical support.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on biomedical devices to extend equipment lifespan.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and regulatory changes in the biomedical field.
  • Provide training and support for medical staff on proper equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit reports on equipment status and repair activities to management.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in repairing and servicing biomedical equipment within a healthcare environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, including circuit theory.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and safety standards (e.g., ISO, FDA).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with medical staff and management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to on-call service requests.
