Job Brief

As an Asbestos Abatement Worker, you will be responsible for identifying, removing, packing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous materials, including asbestos and lead-based paint. This role requires specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling, along with the ability to operate earth-moving equipment or trucks. Ideal candidates will have experience in environmental safety and a strong commitment to compliance with industry standards to ensure safe and effective abatement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify asbestos and other hazardous materials in various environments.
  • Execute safe removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials following federal and state regulations.
  • Pack and transport hazardous waste materials securely to designated disposal sites.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to minimize exposure risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of abatement activities, including material types, quantities, and disposal methods.
  • Collaborate with environmental health and safety teams to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Operate heavy machinery and trucks for transport and removal tasks when required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to stay updated on industry best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in environmental science or related field preferred.
  • Valid certification in asbestos abatement and hazardous materials handling.
  • Experience in construction, demolition, or environmental remediation is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in using safety equipment and understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, such as excavators or trucks, with appropriate licenses.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
