Job Brief
As an Asbestos Abatement Worker, you will be responsible for identifying, removing, packing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous materials, including asbestos and lead-based paint. This role requires specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling, along with the ability to operate earth-moving equipment or trucks. Ideal candidates will have experience in environmental safety and a strong commitment to compliance with industry standards to ensure safe and effective abatement practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify asbestos and other hazardous materials in various environments.
- Execute safe removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials following federal and state regulations.
- Pack and transport hazardous waste materials securely to designated disposal sites.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to minimize exposure risks.
- Maintain accurate records of abatement activities, including material types, quantities, and disposal methods.
- Collaborate with environmental health and safety teams to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Operate heavy machinery and trucks for transport and removal tasks when required.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to stay updated on industry best practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in environmental science or related field preferred.
- Valid certification in asbestos abatement and hazardous materials handling.
- Experience in construction, demolition, or environmental remediation is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using safety equipment and understanding of OSHA regulations.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, such as excavators or trucks, with appropriate licenses.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
