Job Brief
As an Artificial Limb Fitter, you will be responsible for designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting orthopedic braces, prosthetic limbs, and facial appliances for patients with disabling conditions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and compassionate patient care, as you work closely with individuals to enhance their mobility and quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in orthopedic technology, possess strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient needs and assess physical conditions to determine appropriate prosthetic or orthopedic solutions.
- Design and fabricate custom orthopedic braces, prostheses, and facial appliances using advanced materials and techniques.
- Measure and fit devices to ensure optimal comfort, functionality, and alignment for patients.
- Adapt and modify existing appliances based on patient feedback and changing physical conditions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and rehabilitation specialists, to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
- Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding the use and maintenance of orthopedic devices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in prosthetic technology and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of fittings, adjustments, and patient interactions to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Certification as a Prosthetist/Orthotist from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in fitting and adapting prosthetic limbs or orthopedic devices.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, biomechanics, and material science.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in using specialized fitting equipment and tools.
- Current knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in prosthetics and orthotics.
