Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented Water Meter Reader to accurately read and record water consumption data from residential and commercial meters. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various outdoor environments. This role is essential for maintaining accurate billing and ensuring efficient water resource management. Previous experience in meter reading or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Read water meters accurately and record consumption data for billing purposes.
- Conduct regular inspections of water meters to ensure proper functioning and identify any issues.
- Report any discrepancies or irregularities in meter readings to the appropriate department.
- Maintain detailed records of meter readings and service requests using electronic data collection systems.
- Communicate with customers regarding their water usage and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working in the field and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of water meters as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a meter reader or in a related role within utility services.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with data entry and electronic record-keeping systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various locations.
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Physical stamina to walk long distances and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
