Job Brief
The Seedling Puller plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of sustainable forest ecosystems. This position involves performing manual labor under supervision to transport seedlings, combat harmful pests and diseases, and contribute to the overall health of forested areas, woodlands, wetlands, and rangelands. Responsibilities
- Assist in raising and transporting seedlings to designated planting areas.
- Monitor and control insect populations, pests, and diseases affecting plant life.
- Participate in the planting of trees and other vegetation to enhance forest health.
- Build and maintain structures for water control, erosion prevention, and soil leaching management.
- Collect and gather non-timber forest products, such as pine straw, as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of forested areas to identify and report environmental concerns.
- Collaborate with team members to implement best practices in forestry management.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in forestry or agriculture preferred.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of forestry practices and environmental conservation principles.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in tree planting and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other staff.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of materials.
