The Reforestation Worker plays a vital role in the restoration and maintenance of forested areas, woodlands, wetlands, and rangelands. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planting and care of trees and seedlings in reforestation projects.
  • Monitor and control pests, diseases, and invasive species to protect plant health.
  • Transport seedlings and materials to designated planting sites efficiently.
  • Construct and maintain structures for water control and soil erosion management.
  • Participate in forest management activities including thinning and pruning.
  • Collect data on plant growth and environmental conditions for reporting purposes.
  • Support the gathering of non-timber forestry products such as pine straw.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in forestry or environmental science is a plus.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with forestry tools and equipment, including shovels, pruners, and hand saws.
  • Knowledge of native and non-native plant species, pests, and diseases.
  • Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of equipment and materials.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
