Job Brief
The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Installer and Repairer is responsible for the installation, setup, and maintenance of telecommunications systems in various settings. This role requires a proficient understanding of switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in servicing and repairing telephone, cable television, and internet systems on customer premises. Key skills include troubleshooting, technical expertise in communications systems, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain PBX systems and related telecommunications equipment.
- Diagnose and repair issues with communication systems, including telephone and internet services.
- Rearrange or remove existing telecommunications equipment as needed for upgrades or relocations.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of PBX systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with clients to assess their communication needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Document all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities for compliance and service records.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies related to telecommunications systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a PBX Installer and Repairer or in a related telecommunications role.
- In-depth knowledge of PBX systems, voice over IP (VoIP), and telecommunications protocols.
- Strong technical skills in wiring, installation, and troubleshooting of communication systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer locations.
- Certification in telecommunications or related fields is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
