Job Brief
As a Power System Dispatcher, you will coordinate, regulate, and distribute electricity or steam to ensure a reliable and efficient energy supply. This role requires a keen understanding of power systems and grid management, as well as effective communication skills to collaborate with plant operators and engineers. The ideal candidate will have experience in power distribution, knowledge of safety regulations, and a strong ability to analyze and respond to system demands in real-time.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control the flow of electricity or steam across the power grid.
- Coordinate with generation and transmission facilities to optimize energy distribution.
- Analyze system data to identify and respond to potential issues or emergencies.
- Implement load balancing strategies to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
- Document operational activities, outages, and system changes for compliance and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders regarding system status and operational procedures.
- Participate in training and drills to prepare for emergency response situations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements in power systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Power System Dispatcher or in a similar role within the energy sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of power system operations and grid management principles.
- Proficiency in SCADA systems and energy management software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for real-time decision-making.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in energy distribution.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Certifications in energy management or dispatching may be an advantage.
