Job Brief
As a Power Lineworker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems. This position requires hands-on experience with high-voltage equipment, including cables and wires, as well as the ability to erect poles and transmission towers. Responsibilities
- Install and maintain electrical power lines and distribution systems, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Repair damaged cables and wires to restore electrical service promptly and efficiently.
- Erect and maintain poles and transmission towers, utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify faults and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to coordinate power outages and maintenance schedules.
- Respond to emergency calls for power line repairs and service restoration in hazardous conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during installation and repair activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a power lineworker apprenticeship program preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate utility vehicles and equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, safety practices, and relevant codes and regulations.
- Experience working with high-voltage power systems and equipment, including cables and transformers.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions; physical stamina and strength are essential.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with diverse groups.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is a plus.
