Job Brief

The Orthodontist Assistant plays a vital role in supporting orthodontic procedures and enhancing patient care. This position involves performing limited clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed orthodontist, including equipment preparation, patient assistance during treatment, and providing post-treatment instructions. Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of orthodontic practices. Prior experience in a dental or orthodontic office is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
  • Provide patients with instructions for proper oral healthcare and post-treatment care.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and maintain organized patient records.
  • Handle billing and coding information accurately for insurance purposes.
  • Support patient follow-up visits and ensure continuity of care.
  • Stay updated with the latest orthodontic technologies and practices to enhance patient service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred.
  • Certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or orthodontic assistant (COA) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an orthodontic or dental office setting.
  • Proficiency in dental software for scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures.
  • Current CPR certification and knowledge of infection control protocols.
