Job Brief
The Orthodontist Assistant plays a vital role in supporting orthodontic procedures and enhancing patient care. This position involves performing limited clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed orthodontist, including equipment preparation, patient assistance during treatment, and providing post-treatment instructions. Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
- Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Provide patients with instructions for proper oral healthcare and post-treatment care.
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain organized patient records.
- Handle billing and coding information accurately for insurance purposes.
- Support patient follow-up visits and ensure continuity of care.
- Stay updated with the latest orthodontic technologies and practices to enhance patient service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred.
- Certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or orthodontic assistant (COA) is a plus.
- Previous experience in an orthodontic or dental office setting.
- Proficiency in dental software for scheduling and record-keeping.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain attention to detail.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures.
- Current CPR certification and knowledge of infection control protocols.
