Job Brief
The Mining Technician plays a crucial role in supporting scientists and engineers by utilizing electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments to gather essential data during laboratory, exploration, and production activities. Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and calibration of electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments for data collection.
- Analyze geological samples, including mud and drill cuttings, to identify resource characteristics.
- Chart and record pressure, temperature, and other parameters of wells or boreholes for monitoring purposes.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to interpret data and support resource evaluation efforts.
- Conduct field surveys and assist in the preparation of geological and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all operations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in geology, mining technology, or a related field; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in a mining or geological technician role, with a strong understanding of resource extraction techniques.
- Familiarity with electronic and mechanical measuring instruments used in geological sampling.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and geological reports.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations within the mining industry.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in using data analysis software and tools relevant to mining operations.
