Job Brief
As a Mining Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery at surface mining sites to excavate and load loose materials efficiently and safely. This role requires a skilled operator with a strong understanding of excavation techniques, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities
- Operate excavators equipped with scoops, shovels, or buckets to excavate and load loose materials such as coal, minerals, or soil.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on excavator machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate excavation operations and achieve production targets.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while operating heavy machinery in a mining environment.
- Monitor material quality and quantities to maintain efficient workflow and productivity.
- Document daily operational activities, including equipment usage and material extraction reports.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance operational skills and safety knowledge.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mining Excavator Operator or similar role in the mining or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of excavation techniques and machinery operations.
- Valid operator’s license and relevant certifications for heavy machinery operation.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and safety documentation.
- Excellent physical condition and stamina to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform mechanical repairs as needed.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
