Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of medical billing staff to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Review and process medical claims to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Monitor billing operations and identify areas for improvement to enhance revenue cycle management.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes.
- Generate and analyze billing reports to track key performance indicators and enhance accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Stay updated with industry trends and changes in billing procedures, codes, and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or coding, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of medical billing software, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address billing issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within teams and with external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in medical billing (e.g., CPC, CCA, or similar) is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
