Job Brief
As a Malt House Kiln Operator, you will play a critical role in the production of malt by operating and maintaining various drying and roasting equipment, including kilns and vacuum dryers. You will ensure that the malting process meets quality standards and production schedules while adhering to safety protocols. Ideal candidates will have experience in food processing or similar industries, alongside strong mechanical skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor kiln drying equipment to achieve optimal moisture levels in malt products.
- Adjust temperature and humidity settings based on product specifications and quality requirements.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on roasting and drying machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Implement safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Record and analyze production data to identify trends and improve processes.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production schedules and meet delivery deadlines.
- Perform troubleshooting on equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in food processing or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Kiln Operator or similar role in food or tobacco processing.
- Strong knowledge of kiln operation, drying techniques, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and safety regulations in food production.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
