The Logging Slasher Operator plays a crucial role in the forestry and logging industry, responsible for operating heavy machinery to efficiently fell trees and manage logging operations. Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles to fell trees and manage timber harvesting operations.
- Utilize attachments such as frontal shears, grapples, and cranes to efficiently skid, load, and unload logs.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on logging equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Clear brush and pull stumps using specialized logging machinery and tools.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure efficient operation and timely completion of logging projects.
- Keep accurate records of daily operations, including logs removed and equipment usage.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust operations accordingly to minimize delays and hazards.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating logging tractors, heavy machinery, or similar equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred for transportation of logs.
- Strong mechanical skills and understanding of equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments, under varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in logging operations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in heavy machinery operation are a plus.
