Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Logging Tractor Operator to efficiently operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles equipped with various accessories, including bulldozer blades, grapples, and cable winches. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in forestry operations, demonstrating expertise in felling trees, skidding, loading, unloading, and stacking logs. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols and the ability to operate heavy machinery in diverse terrains. Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles to fell trees and manage logging operations.
- Utilize attachments such as bulldozer blades, frontal shears, and grapples for efficient log handling.
- Skid, load, unload, and stack logs to prepare for transportation.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure operational safety.
- Clear brush and pull stumps to maintain logging sites.
- Coordinate with team members to optimize workflow and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations during logging operations.
- Maintain accurate records of logs processed and equipment used during operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience operating logging tractors and heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of forestry practices and logging procedures.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in logging operations.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and diverse weather environments.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
