Job Brief
The Log Truck Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds. This role involves transporting logs and other materials to designated locations while adhering to all safety regulations and maintaining vehicle compliance. Ideal candidates will have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and possess strong knowledge of transportation regulations, vehicle maintenance, and safe driving practices.
Responsibilities
- Operate a log truck tractor-trailer combination to transport logs and associated materials to various locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and cargo details.
- Unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of materials.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding deliveries and routes.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure the safe loading and securing of logs to prevent shifting during transport.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks, preferably in the logging or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards for commercial vehicles.
- Ability to perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on vehicles.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules.
- Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting and prolonged periods of driving.
