Job Brief
As a Lamp Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and dismantling light fixtures and associated lighting equipment for photography, television, film, video, and live productions. This role requires proficiency in lighting techniques and equipment, including lighting control devices, electrical components, and rigging systems. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in lighting design, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain various lighting fixtures and control devices for production environments.
- Collaborate with the lighting designer to execute lighting plans and achieve desired visual effects.
- Install and adjust lighting rigs and electrical equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
- Attach color filters and other accessories to enhance lighting quality and achieve specific artistic effects.
- Perform regular maintenance on lighting equipment to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.
- Assist in dismantling lighting setups after productions and properly store equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot lighting issues during live events and recordings to ensure seamless production.
- Stay updated on the latest lighting technologies and techniques to enhance production quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lamp Operator or in a similar lighting role within the entertainment industry.
- Strong understanding of lighting equipment, electrical systems, and rigging techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and designs.
- Familiarity with industry-standard lighting software and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
- Certifications in electrical safety or rigging considered a plus.
