Job Brief

The Industrial Safety and Health Specialist is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing workplace environments to develop and implement effective health and safety programs. This role involves designing procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent workplace injuries and diseases caused by chemical, physical, biological agents, and ergonomic factors. Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of safety regulations, and experience in conducting inspections to ensure compliance within public and private sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of work environments to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Design and implement comprehensive health and safety programs tailored to organizational needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety protocols and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding workplace safety.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to enforce adherence to safety standards.
  • Provide training and resources to employees on health and safety practices.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and health within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial safety and health roles.
  • Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective training and collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports on safety performance.
  • Familiarity with ergonomic principles and practices is a plus.
