Job Brief
As a Humane Officer, you will play a vital role in the protection and welfare of animals by investigating cases of mistreatment, neglect, and abandonment. This position requires strong observational skills and the ability to handle both domestic and wild animals safely. Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into allegations of animal cruelty, neglect, and abandonment.
- Rescue and transport animals in distress to appropriate facilities.
- Document findings and prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and animal welfare organizations.
- Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare laws.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with local and state animal protection laws.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote animal welfare awareness.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience in animal care, law enforcement, or a similar field is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Certification in animal handling or humane enforcement is a plus.
