Job Brief
The Hospice Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients with terminal illnesses. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine health needs and develop tailored nursing care plans.
- Administer nursing care to patients, including medication management, wound care, and symptom control.
- Monitor and document patient progress, making necessary adjustments to care plans as required.
- Provide education to patients and families on care procedures, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care and effective case management.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including proper documentation practices.
- Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families during end-of-life care.
- Participate in staff training and development to enhance team skills and knowledge in hospice care.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or acute care settings.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Knowledge of hospice care principles and end-of-life issues.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications in hospice and palliative nursing preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and documentation processes.
