Job Brief
The Head Custodian is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily cleaning and maintenance activities within various establishments, including hotels, hospitals, and offices. This leadership role involves managing a team of custodial staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining high cleanliness standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a commitment to quality, and a background in facilities management or custodial services.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the activities of custodial staff, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and protocols to meet the needs of the establishment.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and availability.
- Provide training and support to custodial staff on cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
- Address and resolve any custodial-related issues or complaints from staff and management.
- Maintain records of cleaning activities, staff performance, and supply usage for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning activities around scheduled events and maintenance work.
Requirements
- Proven experience in custodial services or facilities management, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with diverse teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Familiarity with inventory management and budget control in a custodial context.
- Certification in safety training or custodial management is a plus.
