Job Brief
As a Forensic Materials Engineer, you will evaluate and analyze materials to develop innovative machinery and processes that manufacture high-performance materials tailored to meet specialized design specifications. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough forensic analysis of materials to identify failure modes and develop solutions.
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes for composite materials and other specialized materials.
- Collaborate with product development teams to establish material specifications and performance criteria.
- Investigate and develop new applications for existing materials, enhancing product capabilities.
- Perform material characterization using advanced testing methods and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in material selection and processing.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on material performance and engineering analyses.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on material-related projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in forensic materials analysis and failure investigation.
- Strong knowledge of materials science principles and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with materials testing methods and equipment, such as SEM, XRD, and mechanical testing.
- Ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights for material improvements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Materials Engineer (CME) are a plus.
