Job Brief
The Fire Safety Inspector is responsible for inspecting buildings to identify fire hazards, ensuring compliance with local fire ordinances and state laws, and investigating the causes of fires and explosions. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to identify fire hazards.
- Evaluate compliance with fire safety codes, regulations, and local ordinances.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Investigate fire incidents to determine the origin and cause, compiling evidence as necessary.
- Collaborate with fire departments, building owners, and contractors to ensure safety standards are met.
- Provide education and training on fire prevention and safety measures to community members and businesses.
- Stay updated on changes in fire safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Participate in emergency response planning and fire drills to enhance community preparedness.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Fire Safety Inspector or in a similar role in fire prevention and safety.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, codes, and standards.
- Certification as a Fire Inspector or similar credential is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and observational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections and reports.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and software for reporting and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed for inspections.
