Job Brief
The Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in various facilities. This role includes performing heavy cleaning duties, managing daily maintenance tasks, and ensuring all areas meet hygiene and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors to maintain cleanliness.
- Shampoo carpets and rugs to ensure a pristine appearance and hygienic conditions.
- Wash walls, windows, and glass surfaces to enhance overall facility aesthetics.
- Remove rubbish and manage waste disposal in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Tend to furnace and boiler systems, ensuring proper operation and safety.
- Conduct routine maintenance activities and notify management of repair needs.
- Clear snow and debris from sidewalks and entryways to maintain accessibility.
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in custodial or janitorial services.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, along with safe handling practices.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuums.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
- Basic understanding of building maintenance tasks is a plus.
