Job Brief
As a Curbstone Setter, you will be responsible for constructing and installing stone structures, including curbstones, walls, piers, and abutments. Your expertise in masonry will ensure the precise laying of walks, curbstones, and specialized masonry for various applications such as vats, tanks, and floors. We seek candidates with hands-on experience in stone setting and a strong understanding of masonry techniques, safety practices, and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Construct and install curbstones and stone structures according to project specifications.
- Lay walks and specialized masonry for tanks, vats, and flooring applications.
- Measure and cut stones to ensure precise fit and alignment.
- Utilize hand and power tools effectively to shape and place stone materials.
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing job duties.
- Conduct routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide guidance and training to junior workers or apprentices in stone setting techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Curbstone Setter or in a similar masonry role.
- Strong knowledge of masonry techniques and materials, including stone cutting and laying.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Familiarity with safety practices in masonry and construction environments.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
- Certification in masonry or related field is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
