Job Brief
As a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. This role requires expertise in using various radioisotope equipment and involves calculating doses to be administered by radiologists. You will ensure patient safety while executing complex studies, including blood volume assessments and fat absorption tests, adhering to established laboratory standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radioactive isotopes for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Measure and analyze radioactivity levels using advanced radioisotope equipment.
- Calculate and prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials for patient administration.
- Conduct blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies following standard laboratory protocols.
- Monitor and evaluate patient safety and comfort during procedures involving radiation.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient information in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in nuclear medicine technology and safety practices.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from an accredited organization.
- Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in operating radioisotope equipment and understanding radiation safety protocols.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate measurement and assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Experience in conducting nuclear medicine procedures and studies.
