Job Brief

The Butane Compressor Operator is responsible for operating various types of compressors, including steam-, gas-, electric motor-, and internal combustion-engine driven systems, to transmit, compress, and recover gases such as butane, nitrogen, hydrogen, and natural gas. This role requires a solid understanding of gas compression processes and equipment, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to monitor and maintain compressor operations to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in the gas processing industry and demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor steam, gas, electric motor, and internal combustion-engine driven compressors for gas transmission and recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards while handling butane and other gases.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on compressor systems to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Document operational data, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize compressor performance and efficiency.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on compressor equipment as necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new operators on compressor operation and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in compressors or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Butane Compressor Operator or in a similar role within the gas processing industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate and troubleshoot various compressor systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for handling and processing gases.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work in varying conditions, including outdoor environments.
  • Valid certification for operating gas compressors is a plus.
