Job Brief

The Early Head Start Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating comprehensive early childhood education programs for infants, toddlers, and their families. This role requires a strong background in early childhood education, management, and community engagement. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum and program activities that promote the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff to ensure high-quality education and care.
  • Monitor and assess program effectiveness to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Establish partnerships with local agencies and community organizations to enhance family services and support.
  • Manage program budgets and resources efficiently to ensure sustainability and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Facilitate regular communication with families regarding their child’s development and program offerings.
  • Stay updated on current research and trends in early childhood education and implement relevant changes to improve program quality.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective educational programs and curricula.
  • Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Passion for working with children and families, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
