Job Brief
As an Asphalt Roller Operator, you will be responsible for the effective operation of equipment used in the application of asphalt, concrete, and other materials on road beds, parking lots, and airport runways. This role requires a skilled individual with experience in heavy machinery operation, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety standards. Your primary focus will be to ensure smooth and even surfaces while adhering to project specifications and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt rollers and other heavy machinery for paving and surface preparation.
- Ensure the correct application of asphalt and concrete materials to achieve optimal surface quality.
- Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine maintenance checks for safe operation.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate job site activities and ensure project timelines are met.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform pre-operation inspections and troubleshoot machinery issues as needed.
- Document project progress and report any discrepancies to site supervisors.
- Assist in preparing and leveling surfaces before paving operations begin.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Asphalt Roller Operator or similar role in the construction industry.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of asphalt and concrete paving techniques and machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively on job sites.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physical environments.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation is an advantage.
