Job Brief
The Air Cargo Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of ground crew involved in the loading, unloading, securing, and staging of aircraft cargo and baggage. This role requires expertise in determining the appropriate quantity and orientation of cargo, as well as computing the aircraft’s center of gravity. The Air Cargo Supervisor may also accompany aircraft as a member of the flight crew, ensuring safe cargo handling during flight and assisting passengers with safety and emergency procedures. Successful candidates will have strong leadership skills, a keen attention to detail, and experience in the air cargo industry.
Responsibilities
- Supervise ground crew operations for efficient loading and unloading of cargo and baggage.
- Coordinate staging and securing of cargo to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Determine cargo quantity and orientation, and compute aircraft center of gravity.
- Monitor cargo handling during flights and address any issues that arise.
- Assist and brief passengers on safety and emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory compliance in air cargo operations.
- Train and mentor ground crew members to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo operations and report any discrepancies promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in air cargo operations or related logistics roles.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and cargo handling procedures.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to compute aircraft weight and balance accurately.
- Effective communication skills for briefing crew and passengers.
- Valid certifications related to cargo operations and safety standards.
- Proficiency in using cargo management and tracking software.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
