Job Brief
The Toolmaker plays a crucial role in the manufacturing industry, responsible for analyzing specifications and creating precision tools and components. This position requires extensive experience in machining, as well as expertise in operating various machine tools. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to effectively fit and assemble parts, ensuring high-quality production of dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Analyze technical specifications and blueprints to determine the necessary tools and techniques for production.
- Layout metal stock and set up machine tools, ensuring optimal operation and accuracy.
- Operate milling machines, lathes, and other precision machinery to fabricate components.
- Fit and assemble parts, making adjustments and repairs as needed to ensure proper function.
- Inspect and test tools and components for quality and precision, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues and streamline processes.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or toolmaking preferred.
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, blueprint reading, and manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines and manual machining equipment.
- Experience with precision measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
