Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely to and from surgical areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds.
- Assist medical staff in preparing operating rooms and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of surgical and recovery areas to adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and manage the inventory of medical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Safely handle and transport medical equipment to designated locations within the facility.
- Provide support to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals as needed during surgical procedures.
- Document patient transport and equipment usage accurately to assist in compliance and reporting.
- Respond to emergencies and assist in patient care as directed by healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare assistance is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Surgical Orderly or in a similar healthcare role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and hospital protocols.
- Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment safely.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
- Basic understanding of infection control and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
