Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely to and from surgical areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds.
  • Assist medical staff in preparing operating rooms and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of surgical and recovery areas to adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of medical supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Safely handle and transport medical equipment to designated locations within the facility.
  • Provide support to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals as needed during surgical procedures.
  • Document patient transport and equipment usage accurately to assist in compliance and reporting.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in patient care as directed by healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare assistance is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Orderly or in a similar healthcare role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and hospital protocols.
  • Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment safely.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
  • Basic understanding of infection control and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
