Job Brief
The Social Service Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of a social service program or community outreach organization. This leadership role involves overseeing program budgets, participant involvement, and policy implementation. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in social services management, a strong understanding of community resources, and exceptional leadership skills to guide a team of social workers, counselors, or probation officers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for social service programs, ensuring alignment with community needs and organizational goals.
- Oversee program budgets, monitoring financial performance and ensuring responsible resource allocation.
- Establish and enforce policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements, and benefits.
- Manage and mentor a team of social workers, counselors, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular assessments of social service programs to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, government agencies, and other organizations to enhance service delivery.
- Lead outreach initiatives to promote program awareness and engage the community in available services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in social services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in social service program management or community outreach, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of social services regulations, funding sources, and community resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial reporting effectively.
- Relevant certifications, such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), are a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to assess program outcomes.
